Exterior painting built for Perth sun, not for the photo

Perth is hard on paint. Long dry summers, hard UV, and a coastal breeze that carries salt further inland than people expect. An exterior repaint that skips preparation looks excellent for a year and starts letting go in the third.

How we approach it

Exterior Painting — the detail that matters

Wash first, always

Exterior surfaces carry dust, chalking and mould you often cannot see. Every exterior job starts with a proper wash-down. Paint applied over a chalky surface takes the chalk with it when it fails.

Repair, fill and seal

Hairline cracks in render are raked and filled with a flexible filler that moves with the wall. Gaps around window frames and penetrations are re-sealed. Bare and patched areas are spot-primed before anything else goes on.

The right product for the surface

Render, brick and weatherboard all want different things. We use exterior-grade membranes and acrylics rated for Australian UV, and we do not thin them out to make a tin go further.

Tidy site, every day

Your driveway, paths, garden beds and windows are protected. We clean up at the end of each day rather than leaving a site for a fortnight — your neighbours notice, and so do you.

Questions

Exterior Painting FAQs

When is the best time of year to paint outside in Perth?

Spring and autumn are ideal. Summer is workable if we start early and follow the shade around the house; we avoid painting surfaces in direct afternoon sun because the paint skins before it can level. We do not paint exteriors in rain or heavy dew.

How long will an exterior repaint last?

On a properly prepared Perth home, expect eight to twelve years on rendered and brick walls, and around six to eight on north and west-facing timber that cops full sun. Preparation, not the tin, is what decides which end of that range you land on.

Do you paint roofs?

We focus on walls, eaves, fascia, gutters, fences and outdoor structures. Ask John about roof work and he will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing or whether you need a roof specialist.
